Amman, Apr. 5 (Petra) -- Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmed Hanandeh Wednesday said that the Youth, Technology, and Jobs (YTJ) project is an enabler of the National Digital Transformation Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-25.

The project, funded by the World Bank Group (WBG), will expedite the strategy through programs and incentives offered to revitalize supply and demand in the digital sector by providing the needed skills and expanding the industry and its digital services, Hanandeh told the Jordan News Agency (Petra).

Launched by the government in 2020, the 5-year $200-million project aims to help digital companies and self-employment platforms in Jordan grow and reach regional and global markets and create new job opportunities for youth, the minister explained.

The project includes eight main axes, he continued, the first of which is related to building digital skills for youth by establishing a digital skills association to train and qualify 15,000 young men and women, developing a new curriculum for public school students from grades 7 to 12, supporting the growth of digital companies and freelance platforms to provide 10,000 new job opportunities, and establishing three technology centers for learning and co-working.

Another axis pertains to support for digital entrepreneurs by contracting with professional intermediaries in foreign markets, accelerating the digital transformation of government services and 80 percent of payments to the government, and attracting and promoting regional and international investments in the Kingdom through establishing a digital system facilitating procedures for investors.
